The Quiet Fight Within
Some battles are invisible, yet they take everything we have to keep going. This Perseverance Award scholarship honors those who face their struggles in silence and still choose perseverance over surrender.
Father - Protector
Major Steve Campisi was a devoted husband, father, and police officer who dedicated more than 26 years to serving and protecting the Marietta community. Beyond the badge, he was a loving dad who found joy in coaching his three sons’ sports teams and being actively involved in their lives. He was known for his faith, compassion, and unwavering concern for others — the same qualities that made his internal struggles with mental health harder for those around him to see. His life reminds us that even the strongest among us can face silent battles, and that reaching out for help is an act of strength, not weakness.

Perservance
In 2023, Steve’s son, Thomas, applied for a scholarship and shared during his interview how difficult life had been without his father’s presence and guidance. His strength and honesty inspired the Cobb Schools Foundation Board to create the Perseverance Award—a $5,000 scholarship recognizing students who have faced extraordinary challenges yet remain determined to move forward. This award honors the courage it takes to persevere through loss and adversity while continuing the pursuit of education and purpose.
