The Cobb Schools Foundation is pleased to announce the 2011 Scholarship recipients. Each year, the Foundation awards 2-$1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors at each of the 16 high schools in Cobb County School District. The scholarships are based on extracurricular activities, leadership and academics.

Powell Award
A memorial scholarship was set up in honor of Dr. Powell, who directed H.A.V.E.N
Academy
for 22 years. His memory and dedication to the H.A.V.E.N program, live on in the students who receive the scholarship. The scholarship are for students who are part of the H.A.V.E.N Academy program.
H.A.V.E.N. Academy provides comprehensive special education and support for students with Severe Emotional Behavior Disorders and Autism. The program serves students from Cobb County, Douglas County and the city of Marietta
The Michael D. Powell Achievement Award is granted to three students: one elementary, one middle school and one high school.
The $250 award is based on citizenship, achievement and attendance. A
HAVEN
Academy
staff member must recommend the applicant with a letter of recommendation indicating the candidate’s strong points, and why he/she should receive this award.
The Michael D. Powell Scholarship is awarded to a high school student (s) for post secondary tuition/expenses. An essay addressing the core character traits associated with the HAVEN program slogan (Hope. Achievement. Victory. Encouragement. Nobility) is submitted by the applicant. A community service activity summary, letters of recommendation, transcripts and progress reports provide supporting documentation.

Kids First! After School Program (ASP) Scholarships
Ensuring all students are safe after school, Kids First was established to offer scholarships for the After School Program (ASP) for students in need. By caring for the whole student, we help to promote a successful educational environment for all children Cobb cares for kids.
ASP Scholarship Applications can be attained from the school's Principal or ASP Director.
