Cobb Schools Foundation awards over $15,000 in grants to teachers
January 26, 2010

The Cobb Schools Foundation awarded more than $15,000 in grants to Cobb County School
District teachers at their Annual Meeting in December 2009. These grants were given to recognize
creative and innovative ideas in teaching and learning.
The Cobb Schools Foundation has awarded over $100,000.00 in Teacher Impact Grants since
2005, providing financial backing for unique educational programs or initiatives that would
otherwise go unfunded. Funding for these grants is made possible through the Foundation’s annual
golf tournament held each year in September. A panel of Foundation trustees reviewed teacher
applications and selected the winners based on the creativity and impact of the proposals.
The Foundation’s Executive Director Sheri Brante said, “We are pleased to be able to help our
teachers make a powerful impact on students in our school district. We hope these grants will
inspire our teachers to try new ideas and get creative in the classroom. We couldn’t help our
teachers with out the help of those who support our Foundation and education in our schools.”
Congratulations to the following teachers: Marni Carder, Belmont Hills: Lisa King, Blackwell;
Lori Friedrich, Bullard; Deborah Aughey, Campbell HS; Ginny Lyon, Chalker; Nancy Chisholm,
Cooper Middle; Virginia McNabb, Fair Oaks; Cecelia Myers, Kincaid; Douglas Michalke,
Kennesaw Mountain HS; Kelly Bryan, Walton HS.
Established in 1999, the Cobb Schools Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to
supporting, rewarding and enhancing the schools, staff and students of Cobb County School
District.
